Donald Van Hove, 86, of Hale

Donald Van Hove, age 86, passed away at home with his loving wife by his side on January 10, 2024. He was born on June 19, 1937, in Clara City, MN to Jans & Tina (Groen) Van Hove. After graduation from high school, Donald joined the United States Army and proudly served his country for 2 years in Germany. He met Reva Teed in August of 1963, and it was love at first sight. They married on April 11, 1964, in Wyoming, MI. Donald worked for General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He and Reva resided in Clio, MI for 42 years until relocating to Hale, MI in 2009. Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent time on their property tending his vegetable garden, woodworking and reading. He was a member of the American Legion. Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was their hero. Becoming a “grandpa” was so important to him, he refused to be admitted to the hospital until he saw his 1st great grandchild, a great granddaughter. Donald is survived by the love of his life Reva; his children, Kym (Keith) Perry of Capac, MI, Kelly (Phil) Skarbek of Monroe, MI, and Ken (Dawn) Van Hove of Strongsville, OH; grandchildren, Dakota, Aijah, Jake, Jennifer, Sydney, Seth, Samantha; and great grandchild, Ember Leigh.
