Martin Janish, age 78, of Twining, Michigan, passed away on October 14, 2023, in Saginaw, Michigan. Marty was born in Mason Township, Michigan, on September 5, 1945, to the late Edward and Anna Janish. He was a lifelong resident of Twining, and was a proud graduate of the Whittemore-Prescott High School Class of 1963. Following high school Marty enlisted in the United States Navy where he served our country for two years. He was stationed at Base Kodiak in Alaska where he worked as a Seabee. He returned home after his time in the Navy, and began his work as a Sprinkler Fitter. He spent 25+ years with Vanwormer’s Fire Protection, and then went to work with Johnny Green for several years before his retirement in 2001. In 2007 he married Wendie Worden on a beach in Florida, and the two spent a tremendous 16 years together. Marty became a friendly face in town as he belonged to several clubs that included the Secord Eagles of Gladwin, the American Legion of Standish, the Skidway Moose Lodge, and an AMVET in Florida. Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting, boating, and spending time with his family. Marty was a loving and generous man that would do anything for anyone, and he will be missed dearly by many.
Marty is survived by his wife, Wendie Janish; brothers, Don (Judy) Janish and Tom (Joyce) Janish; sister, MaryAnn (Ray Sykes) Hintze; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Carolyn Janish.
Visitation for Marty will be held at Buresh Funeral Homes in Twining, Michigan, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church in Skidway Lake, Michigan on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 11:00 AM. The family will welcome the public for a period of visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Any memorial contributions may be directed towards the family as a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Association will be made on behalf of Martin’s name.
