Joseph Lehner, 70, of St. Helen

Joseph Franklin Lehner, age 79, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his home in St. Helen surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 16, 1943 in Saginaw, MI to Joseph and Ilene (Fuller) Lehner. Joseph has lived in the St. Helen area since 2001 previously of Birch Run. He married Naoma C. Dees on January 28, 1967; they were married 55 years. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1961 and was drafted into the Army during Vietnam and served in Germany. After he was discharged from the service he went to work for General Motors and retired after 32 years as a Department Coordinator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising horses, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.

Joseph is survived by his wife Naoma Lehner, children Joseph Lehner Jr., Carrie (Scott) Marshall, and Ruth Lehner. His grandchildren Mitchell Lehner Ramsey, Andrew Torrez, Tyler Torrez, Kara Torrez, Marshal Damsen, Corrin Damsen, Miranda Damsen, Ryan Marshall, James Marshall, Danielle Marshall, Nicole Marshall, Alexis Marshall, Stephen (Cassandra) Chaffin, along with his great grandchildren Sawyer Stebner, Myles Chaffin, sister Shirley (Howard) Williams, sisters-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s Bob Offenborn, Maureen (Carl) Kralik, Marsha (Bill) Masker and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters and brother-in-law, Sharon Offenborn, Jeanette Wilton, Joan Lehner and Bonnie & Maurice Dowell.

Visitation for Joseph will be held at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen, MI from 3-8 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. His funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Rodney Morrison will officiate with burial to follow at the Maple Valley Cemetery in St. Helen with veterans’ honors.
