Marjorie Rhoads, 86, of Luzerne

Marjorie Grace (Reeves) Rhoads passed away peacefully at Munson Hospital in Traverse City, Michigan on Saturday July 2, 2022.


Marjorie was born May 5, 1936, in Mitchell Township Alcona County to Ralph Reeves and Helen (Pattee) Reeves of Curran, Michigan. She graduated from Fairview H.S. May 24, 1954, married her High School sweetheart Forrest M. Rhoads December 28th, 1955, while he was home on furlough from U.S. Army. They first resided in Fort Hood, TX and completed 63 years of marriage in Luzerne, Michigan.


Marjorie worked most of her career in a secretarial capacity, including Mio AuSable Elementary School, Michigan District Health Department, Oscoda County Register of Deeds and Administrative Assistant for the Oscoda County Commissioners.


Marjorie loved getting together with family and playing musical instruments, mainly piano, accordions and the organ. She reminisced about the days they played for local dances. She also loved getting together with friends to actively pursue their painting talents.
Marjorie loved being outdoors in Canada, was an avid snowmobiler and fisherman until the day she and Forrest took a big spill in the lake. She loved grandkids showing up, at the cabin in Canada, picking blueberries, cooking fish and playing games. She authored a book about these adventures.


Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Helen Reeves, Husband Forrest Maynard Rhoads, Brother Ralph (Junior) Reeves, Drayton Plains, wife Patricia, sister Shirley (Reeves) Rickert, Mikado husband Richard (Dick), brother Chester Reeves, Big Rapids, brother Winston Reeves, Barton City, wife Marge, sister Nadine (Reeves) Tremble, Sault Ste. Marie, husband Earl (Bunk), brother Vance Reeves, Alpena, wife Elaine.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Anita Faye Bills, Luzerne Husband Richard, Grandchildren Nycole & Jeremy Kelly, Detroit, Lindsay Bills, Luzerne great grands, Vanguard and Sheperd, Ryan & Casandra (Morse) Bills, great grands Payton and Harper, Mio, son Ralph Darren Rhoads, wife Carla Rhoads, Mio, granddaughter Nona C. Rhoads Grandville, Bradley & Sarah Rhoads, Zeeland and Garrett A. Rhoads, Wyoming, MI.
Other surviving members are sister-in-law JoAnn (Jostock) Reeves and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
