Janice Illig, 95, of West Branch

Janice Beatrice Illig, age 95, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Medilodge of Sterling. She was born on September 20, 1926 in Prescott, MI to Dewey and Bessie (Redfield) David.

Janice lived in West Branch all of her life. She was the co-owner and operator of Walter Illig & Sons Dairy Farm. She enjoyed snowmobiling, reading, baking cookies and brownies, and taking care of her family. Janice was always helping out her neighborhood and loved having family around. She considered Paul, Bill, Dave, and Ron her second family.

Janice took yearly fishing trips to Canada with special friends. They always had a great time and made many memories and of course had a lot of stories to share. She was a member of the of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the ladies auxiliary. Janice was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and assisted with fundraising for the American Cancer Society.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Lynette (Bill) Beitz of Atlantic Beach, FL; son, Greg (Jane) Illig of West Branch; grandchildren, Scott (Sara) Gildner, Kristie (Jason) Langdale, Nicole Ricketts, Brent (Megan) Illig, Pamela (Travis) Lutz, Brian (Brooke) Illig, and Michael (Alyssa) Illig; and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, son Mark Illig, brothers Byron and Chet David, and sister Mae Jones.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Father John Paul will officiate.
