Robert “Bob” Martin Umbel Sr., age 79 of Whittemore, Michigan passed away on February 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on August 26,1942 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to the late Ivan Earl Umbel Jr. and Grace Elizabeth (Brockman) Ford.
Bob attended Redstone High School and joined the United States Navy at age 17. He was honorably discharged after four years of service and moved to Michigan to work for Chrysler Motors. Bob married the love of his life, Jean (Robinson) Umbel, in 1965 and they had 56 amazing years together. Bob was a truck driver, diesel and auto mechanic, building contractor and jack of all trades. He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, spending time with family, horses, and drinking beer.
Bob is survived by his wife Jean Umbel; daughter, Tabitha (Umbel) Sisk; son, Robert Umbel Jr.; sisters, Shirley (Richard) Biddle, Gale (Patrick) Michalski; grandchildren, Autumn (Jay) Robinson, Evan Sisk, Aric (Rachel) Sisk, Eden (Sam) Sealy; great grandchildren, Caleb, Gavin, Barrett, Abram, Easton, Jaxon and Mason; step great grandchildren, Natalie and Zachary and several nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Grace; sisters, Elizabeth Faye (Umbel) Weiler and Margaret Louise “Bunny” (Umbel) Meyst .
A celebration of life is planned for Friday, February 18th, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 803 East Bay Street, East Tawas, Michigan 48730.
