Dorothy C. Mark of Houghton Lake

Dorothy C. Mark, 98, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday Feb. 19, 2018 at her home.

Dorothy was born on Nov. 8, 1919 in Saginaw, Michigan to John and Lula (Nielson) Burnell. She was married in Angola, Indiana on August 30, 1949 to Gerald Mark who preceded her in death in 1993. She had worked for Hughes Tool Company in California as an Executive Secretary for many years.

In 1980 the couple had moved from Owosso to Houghton Lake. Dorothy worked as a secretary for the Stuck family at Stuck’s Development Company for several years. Dorothy enjoyed her friends at Houghton Lake and the Houghton Lake Community Center.

Surviving Mrs. Mark are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great- great- nieces and nephews, along with many friends in the Houghton Lake area.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald Mark; three sisters, Edith, Alice, and Ione; and her brother, John.

Funeral Services for Dorothy C. Mark will be conducted at 11:00am Friday February 23, 2018 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Richard L. Pettit officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday February 23, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels Program. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com.
