Sally Ann Walin of Higgins Lake


Sally Ann Walin, 85, of Higgins Lake, passed away June 12. 2017 at her home.

Sally was born in Cohoes, New York April 27, 1932 to Charles Ellsworth and Dorothy O’Neal (Herman) Davis.

She married John J. ‘Jack’ Walin Sept. 4, 1952 in Ridgeland, SC.

Sally resided in Higgins Lake, summers since 1976, fulltime since 1988; Bay City from 1965 to 1988; Albany, NY for four years; coming from Averill Park, NY.

Sally taught adult education in Troy, NY for many years. She taught elementary special education for Bangor Twp. Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church and ECW.

Sally enjoyed sewing and downhill skiing.

Surviving are her husband, Jack; three children, Michael (Donna) Walin of Indian River, Cynthia (Gale) Hammerbacher of Bay City and Gretchen (Dan) Meeker of Coleman; 12 grandchildren, Bridgette (Jeff), John, Jeff, Scott, Stefanie (Paul), Sheri (Ty), Danna (Brent), Jack, Annie, Anthony, Krista (Brian) and Trisha (Dave); nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara (Dave) Kelley of Ft. Myers, FL.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Davis.

Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, Roscommon at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 with Rev. Mary Short officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, 2936 E. Higgins Lake Dr., Roscommon MI 48653.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon is serving the family.
