Othelia Amanda Meikle, age 91, passed in her sleep, at Tawas Lakeview Manor, on April 22, 2024. Othelia was born March 13, 1933 at home in Turner, MI. She was delivered by and named after her paternal grandmother, Othelia Leola (Shaffer) Meikle. She is the oldest of eight siblings and was baptized in the Christian faith.
Othelia is predeceased by her parents, John Edison Meikle and Lottie (Newling) Meikle, sisters Eleanor Krainski, Gloria (Roy) Corey and brother George (Anita) Meikle. Othelia is survived by her sisters Lurla Jane Zieg, Valerie (Jim) Donelow and brothers Delbert (Shirley) Meikle, James Meikle, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Othelia was briefly married when younger and worked as a switchboard operator in the Flint area where she lived with her Aunt Caroline and made custom draperies. She also did cleaning services through Arenac Opportunities.
Othelia resided at AuGres Care Center where she was cared for and loved by her family there, Lenore and Leonard Nagy and many special sisters and brothers. She was a wonderful, smart and loving person that was always willing to give and help others. She will be remembered fondly and missed by all her family and friends.
Service will be held at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 E Michigan Ave., AuGres, MI 48703 on Monday, April 29, 2024. Visitation will be from 9-10:30, service to be held at 10:30, followed by a graveside committal at Cedar Valley Cemetery, Twining, MI. Please join us for luncheon at 1pm at St. Mark’s Catholic Church fellowship hall, 415 S. Court St., AuGres, MI 48703.
