Mary Sue ‘Sheba’ Haight of Higgins Lake

Mary Sue ‘Sheba’ Haight, 93, of Higgins Lake passed away March 30, 2017 at Grayling Nursing & Rehabilitation Community.

She was born Sept. 14, 1923 at Bay City to William and Susan (Wargo) Aubrey. She married Earl L. Haight June 7, 1947 at Roscommon.

She was a lifetime Roscommon area resident.

Mrs. Haight was employed in the office at Roscommon High School from 1946-1948 and 17 years as office manager at Gaylor Insurance in Roscommon. She retired in 1976.

She loved golf. Her father was the superintendent for Higgins Lake State Forest where she was raised at the park headquarters.

Surviving are her son, Glenn Haight of Roscommon; three grandchildren, Erick (Courtney), Ashley (Gunnar Brow) and Trevor (Nicole); great granddaughter, Brie Ann; and daughter-in-law, Sally Haight of Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; two sons, David and Butch; and two sisters, Nancy Hyde and Betty Sampsel.

Per her wishes there will be no organ music or tears as she wishes for her friends and family to rejoice and celebrate at a gathering that will start at 12 p.m. July 3 at the home of her son, Glenn.

Burial will be at Roscommon Village Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to ASPCA, Crawford County Animal Shelter or the Sierra Club.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon is serving the family.
