HOUGHTON LAKE–Carol Gage, Regional Director of Mid Michigan Big Brothers Big Sisters, recently spoke to the Rotary Club of Houghton Lake about the program where a case worker will match a potential Big Brother or Big Sister as a mentor to a child aged 5-15.
“Bigs” and “littles” may meet as Lunch Buddies where they meet at the school for lunch or as a traditional match where they can meet outside of the school environment for activities. Potential Big Brothers/Sisters are screened for safety and case workers are available to provide guidance and plan or recommend activities.
Rotary President Jim VanSice presented Carol with a $1,000 donation to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakes program in Roscommon County. To become a sponsor or become involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakes, call caseworker Leslye Vest at 989-808-1296 or regional director Carol Gage at 989-386-9304.
