Dorothy Kramer, 88, of Houghton Lake

Dorothy Alice Kramer, 88, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday May 2, 2024 at Gladwin Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gladwin, with her loving family by her side.

Dorothy was born on October 30, 1935 in Breathitt County, Kentucky to George and Louraine (Collins) Watkins. She grew up in the Detroit area and moved from Milford to Houghton Lake in 1976.  She managed the Sunburst Resort on Houghton Lake for several years.  On September 28, 1983 Dorothy was married to Max Joseph Kramer in Gladwin, who preceded her in death in 2014.  Dorothy was a waitress and cook for D &J  Truck Stop at Snowbowl Road for many years. Later Dorothy worked for several years in the bakery at the Family Fare Grocery Store. She enjoyed puzzles and reading, and was known as an avid professional wrestling fan for many years.  Dorothy enjoyed times with her best friend Heidi Goodwin, going to movies, shopping, lunches or just hanging out.  Her favorite pastime was being with her beloved dog, Roxie.

Surviving Mrs. Kramer are her two sons, Sam Spencer Jr. of Milford, and David(Barb Fox) Hamilton of Morrice; two daughters, Deb  Hamilton of Gladwin, and Susan Snider of Lafayette, Indiana; six grandchildren, Michael(Amy) Williams, Michelle(Eric) Blackburn, Amy Hamilton Nash, Brian Hamilton, Kelly Sue Hamilton, and Jonathon (Salina ) Hamilton; many great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Lora(Jimbob) McKimmy of Gladwin; several nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents;  husband, Max J Kramer, two sons, Mike Hamilton, and Rick Hamilton; daughter-in-law, Charisse(Garant) Spencer; two brothers, Ray Watkins, and Roy Dickey, Jr.

Private Family Services for Dorothy Alice Kramer will be conducted.  Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Commission on Aging.
