Karen Briggs, 75, of National City

Karen June Briggs, aged 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 19, 2024, in National City, MI. Born on March 18, 1949, in Pontiac, MI, she was a beacon of kindness and love, touching all the lives she encountered.

Karen was the cherished daughter of James and Mary Jane (Calhoun) Emerson. Her life was a testament to the power of devotion, marked by her marriage to Marvin Briggs on March 29, 1969, in Mayville, MI. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to their family and community.

A proud and dedicated farmer, Karen worked alongside her family on their dairy farm. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and her passion for the land and her cattle was evident to all who knew her. She was especially proud of her role in the farming community and the relationships she and Marvin cultivated throughout the years with their neighbors and friends.

Karen was a treasured mother to Gared (Patty) Briggs, Chad Briggs, Tara (Mike) Adamczak, and Justin (Tricia) Briggs. Her brother John (Flora) Emerson will miss her spirited conversations and her unwavering support. She was a wonderful grandmother and took immense pleasure in her grandchildren: Darion, Ashley, Page, Michael, Jade, Gabrielle, Chelsea, Halea, Austin, Jeffrey, Ava, and Clay. Beyond that, Karen was blessed to see the joy her great-grandchildren Westen, Fisher, Cayden, Hunter, Brynlee, Hank, Braylen, Emery, Wilder, Spencer, and Russell brought into the world.

Karen’s passion for flowers and gardening brought vibrant blooms to both her home and heart, creating a legacy of beauty that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her winters were spent basking in the camaraderie of South Padre Island, where she relished in the island life and nurtured friendships that spanned the seasons.

Karen June Briggs lived with a loving and kind spirit. Her memory will continue in the hearts of those she has left behind. Her legacy will be cherished and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
