Sue Dowell, 68, of Rose City

Susan Julia Dowell, age 68, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at her home in Rose City, MI surrounded by her loved ones. Sue was born on May 26, 1955, in Detroit, MI, to Tadeusz and Eudokia (Wasyliw) Kazieczko.

Sue was a graduate of St. Hedwig High School in Detroit. She had a passion for the performing arts and productions. She was a member of the Tawas Bay Players Theatre for years and enjoyed acting, singing, and jamming with bands. She enjoyed playing pool and competed in several local tournaments. Sue had a deep appreciation for music, especially the blues. The blues held a special place in her heart, and she would eagerly attend the annual Blues Fest in Chicago, IL, immersing herself in the soulful music.

Sue was a loving and caring person who had a special bond with her niece and nephew. She would often share stories and photos showing the beauty of living in northern Michigan, instilling in them an interest in nature and wildlife. Sue’s compassionate nature extended to animals as she lovingly cared for many pets and took pride in her talent in training them.

Sue is survived by her longtime partner, Harry Johnson of Rose City, her nephew, Adam (Kristin) Kuszak of Gaithersburg, MD, her niece, Beth Mannix of Oak Park, IL, and her great nieces and great nephews, JJ Jimmy, Keira, and Peter.
