John ‘Tom’ Wescott, 71, of Houghton Lake

John “Tom” Wescott, age 71, of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday January 13, 2024 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor with his loving family by his side.

Tom was born on December 8, 1952 in Clare, Michigan to John and B. Vernetta (Marsh) Wescott. Tom graduated from Houghton Lake High School and later attended Ferris State University where he received his degree in pharmacy. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War era. Tom worked as a Pharmacist for K-Mart for 40 years retiring in 2013. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing games on his I-Pad and entertaining his family.

Tom is survived by his brothers; Gary (Peggy) Wescott, Mike (Bonnie) Wescott and twin brother Tim (Patty) Wescott, sisters; Sherrie Davidson and Mary (Bob) Isham, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Tom very much. They all believed he was the best chocolate chip cookie maker in the whole world so they named them Uncle Tom’s Cookies! He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers and brother-in-law.

A Memorial Services will be conducted at 11am on Friday January 19, 2024 from Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel with Rev. Bryan Thompson officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery, Markey Twp. at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Tom are asked to be directed to the ALS Association at www.als.org Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
