Barbara Jean Rigling, age 88, of Prudenville passed away on Thursday January 25, 2024 at Crawford Continuing Care Center in Grayling.
Barbara was born on June 22, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Gerrit and Gertrude (Roszell) Takens. She was married on September 11, 1956 in Angola, Indiana to James E. Rigling. The couple moved to the Houghton Lake area in 1965. Barbara was the office manager of WHGR & WJGS Radio Station for many years before retiring. She also worked as a Title 1 aide and Secretary for the Houghton Lake Public Schools. Barbara was a member of the Global Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and traveling. Her time that she spent with her family and watching the grandkids in their activities is what she treasured most.
Barbara is survived by her children; Michael (Jeannette) Rigling, Andrew (Julie) Rigling, Timothy (Kris) Rigling, and Nancy (Rick) LaFave, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: James, and brother; Robert Takens.
Memorial Services for Barbara Jean Rigling will be conducted at 11 am on Tuesday January 30, 2024 from the Global Methodist Church. The family will greet friends at the church on Tuesday January 30, 2024 from 10 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery at a later date.
