Jill Ann Teeter, age 86 of Higgins Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 24, 2024 at Grand Brook Memory Care in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving grandmother, Ruby Haggerty.
Jill was born on August 26, 1937 to Larry Haggerty and Gertrude Bevan in Lansing, Michigan. She spent her early years in the Lansing area, graduating from Eastern High School and attending Lansing Community College where she received a degree in nursing. She married Wayne H. Teeter, the love of her life, on October 15, 1983 at Higgins Lake. Jill’s kind heart led her to a lifetime of caring for others. Jill worked at St. Lawrence Hospital with terminally ill children, Grayling Mercy Hospital, and at local doctor offices. Her work continued with Health and Human Services helping struggling families stay together and with Roscommon County Head Start program. She was recognized by her peers for her work and dedication to families.
Jill loved to go rustic camping and canoeing in the Upper Peninsula and northern Ontario with Wayne and beloved schnauzer, Korke. Jill’s passion was to make their home in the woods, Wenonga Pines, a welcoming place for her family. She worked tirelessly to make every holiday special, preparing her home for the holidays, wrapping gifts, and making dozens of the best Christmas cookies found anywhere.
Surviving Mrs.Teeter are her loving husband, Wayne H. Teeter of Higgins Lake, sister Patricia (Doug) Dyer of Salida, Colorado, son Scott (Joanne) Bennett, daughter Kathy (Jim) Zeichman, step sons Randy Teeter of New York City, and Dale Teeter of Germany; ten grandchildren Jason Bennett, Justin Bennett, Donna Lesosky, Kristin Creed, Zachary Bennett, Alli Reminder, Donny Reminder, Christopher Zeichmann, Laura Zeichman, Colleen Zeichman; nine great grandchildren, Paige, Ethan, Dylan, Ava, Noa, Jasmine, Dominick, Carlee, and Aiden; and great-great grandchildren Arya, and Thomas.
Funeral services for JIll Ann Teeter will be conducted at 11;00AM on Wednesday, January 31, at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Pastor Victor Schreffler officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Lyon Township. In Lieu of flowers, the family has chosen Alzheimer’s Association(https://act.alz.org) for donations.
