Frederick Runyan, 83, of Prescott

Frederick J Runyan was born in Saginaw, MI, to Fred D. and Ortella (Gerard) Runyan on 1/8/1940. He grew up in Freeland, MI, where, as a young boy, he came to know the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior.

After a period of time at Emmaus Bible School, Fred married Maribeth Lee Schmock in June, 1964, and they began their long journey together. Fred was a successful salesman throughout his life, but his real passions were fishing, hunting, gardening, and sharing his faith. Several years as camp manager at Story Book Lodge Christian Camp in MN were a perfect fit and set the growing family up for a monumental move to Alaska where Fred was able to sate his thirst for all things outdoors while being involved in the vibrant faith community of Wasilla Bible Church. Fred and Maribeth returned to their roots in 2000, moving back to Fred’s family home in Prescott, MI where they fellowshipped at Judson Baptist Church.

Self-employment enabled the couple to travel, volunteer at Christian organizations, and support missions groups around the country as well as visit family. Fred is survived by his wife, Maribeth, children Kim (Mark) Cooper, Kristi (Mike) Lucia, Stephen (Paula), Kari Warner, and Seth, 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Fred was preceded in death by his only brother Kendall Runyan. We will all miss his garrulous nature, his booming baritone singing, his fish stories, his genuine love and enjoyment of each of us, but because we can answer his question “Do you know my Jesus?” positively, we know we’ll see him again! Job 19:25-27. A Memorial Sercie will take place at a later date.  Condolences and Memories can be shared at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
