Edwin Allen “Ed” Brown, age 88 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
Ed was born in Oscoda County on September 26, 1934 to Christopher “Lon” Brown and Sarah (Pearsall-Brown) Lockwood. He married Thela Zoe Hill on October 29, 1955 and together they raised 5 children. Ed worked for Perma Log in Mio for over 50 years. He enjoyed bowling and won quite a collection of trophies. He also spent many years deer hunting until his eyesight failed him. Ed was quite an inventor, always able to build something to make a job easier. He was quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed help, and never failed to help his kids at every turn. He’ll be missed by many and always remembered with love till we meet again.
Ed is survived by his wife of 68 years Thela Brown; 4 children: Laurel Nichols, Alisa Burgess, Allen Brown, and Kelly Brown; 13 grandchildren: Dale Nichols (Tonya Campbell) & Roberta (Dave) Wilt, Chris (Jamie) Babcock, Michelle Berridge (Craig Gainer) & William (Danielle) Burgess; Sarah (Steven) Anderson, Chloe (Skyler) Brown-Hawkins & Josh Brown; Frank Ellis, Melisa Ellis, Tony (Stephanie) Jennings & Nate Jennings, and Andy Lawrence; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one sister Eleanora McIntyre, and many much loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, one daughter Matty Lawrence, one granddaughter Jessie Jennings, 3 grandsons: John “Luke” Jennings, T.J. Lawrence, and Zech Jennings; and a brother George Brown.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who took care of Ed over the last year and also Friends Together of Alpena for all of their help and encouragement.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan at a later date.
