Wanda Chambers, 97, of Roscommon

Wanda Gean Chambers, age 97, of Roscommon, since 1947, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her home in the presence and comfort of her family.

Wanda was born May 3, 1926, in Prudenville, Michigan, the daughter of Phillip and Bessie (Seward) Young. Wanda graduated from Houghton Lake High School, the Old Stone Schoolhouse. She was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church and had served on the Ladies Aide. She was a part of the Avon Women’s Gathering. Wanda enjoyed reading, playing Bridge, doing crossword puzzles, going walking, as well as babysitting her grandsons.

Wanda will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children: Janice (Alan Dunn) Chambers of Long Beach, California, and Eric (Jennifer Roush) Chambers of Roscommon, Michigan; grandchildren: Fred (Shannon) Chambers of Champion, Michigan and Nathan Chambers of Fowlerville, Michigan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Junior Franklin Chambers; brothers: Edward, Carlos, and Raymond; sisters: Beatrice, Viola, Lenore, and Alice.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 11:00-1:00 PM, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653. The Funeral is at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, also at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/wagnerandwalshfuneraldirectors.

If so desired, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in Wanda’s name to Immanuel Baptist Church, 2794 West Maplehurst Drive, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
