Phyllis L. Jakobi, age 82, of National City, MI and formerly of Tawas City, MI passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at her home. She was born on February 2, 1941 in Tawas City, MI to the late Phillip and Iva Watts (Wrathel). Phyllis graduated from Tawas Area High School and worked as a cook for many years. She was a co-owner of My Sisters Diner in Whittemore and she also owned a produce farm. Phyllis enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and farming.
She is survived by eight children, Jay (Denice) Utter of Tawas City, MI, Iva Utter of Bessemer, MI, Bradley Utter of Tawas City, MI, Robert (Linda) Utter of East Tawas, MI, Arnold Jakobi of Muskegon, MI, Connie (David) Finley of National City, MI, step-son William Jakobi of National City, MI, step-son Keith (Jean Anne) Jakobi of Bay City, MI; two brothers, Willard (Linda) Watts of St. Charles, MI, Ivan (Sandy) Watts of Tawas City and MI; sister Sally Watts of Tawas City, MI. Phyllis is also survived by 22 grandchildren, Brandon (Natasha) Utter, Brittany (Seth) Knack, Ashley Proper, Jessie Proper, Hank Short, Amanda (Colin) McKenna, Savanah Utter, Paul (Shelainia) McClaine, Beauford Jakobi, Jennifer (Cole) Fett, Alison Jakobi, Josh Finley, David Wade Finley, Courtney (Dann) Lagman, Seth Finley, Connor Finley, Jordan Finley, Tiffany Lutze, Jason (Nicole) Jakobi, Shawn (Sylvia) Jakobi, Donald Glaspell, Tracy Glaspell and 21 great-grandchildren, Blair Knack, Jonathon Proper, Jamie Proper, Oliver McKenna, Adeline St. Clair, Lindsey McClaine, Kendra McClaine, Bradley Williams, Shay McClaine, Rustin Fett, Tyler Call, Troy Layman, Lloyd Layman, Kayleigh Lutze, Kaitlin Lutze, Owen Hall, Preston Jakobi, Liam Jakobi, Harper Jakobi, Kyla McClaine and Myla McClaine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Arnold Jakobi, brother Lloyd Watts, step-daughter Esther Glaspell and grandson Anthony Utter.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City, MI. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Cemetery in National City, MI. You may offer condolences at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
