Juanita Tackett, 60, of Roscommon

Juanita Marie Tackett (née Martin), 60, of Roscommon passed away on Saturday, June 10th. The beloved wife and companion of her husband Matt since 1978, Juanita was the proud mother to three sons: Matthew (Trisha); David; and Stephen (Michael). Her husband, sons, and grandchildren were the absolute lights of her life.

Juanita was born in Detroit in 1962 – and proud of it, as a favorite coffee cup of hers would attest- and was raised in the Downriver community of River Rouge. She her sisters Kim and Tina, brothers Tony and Tommy, and her pre-deceased brother Richie had an unbreakable bond and there are probably many stories of their time growing up together in “The Rouge” their mother, Angela Martin, does not yet know about.

Juanita is preceded in death by her father, Richard. The family takes comfort in knowing Richard and Richie, alongside Bobby and Joyce Tackett, her pre-deceased and beloved parents-in-law, were among the first to welcome her home to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Juanita was renowned for her fierce spirit and her steadfast loyalty to friends and family. Her work ethic was legendary; she worked so hard throughout her life and gave first to all those close to her.

A fan of early-2000’s era hip-hop, Michael Jackson, and Madonna (her favorite Madonna song: “Lucky Star,” to which she once broke her wrist dancing to), Juanita enjoyed bowling and, as a member of her bowling league for over 20 years, she enjoyed the company of her teammates as much as she did the friendly competition.

Juanita’s generosity continued despite her untimely death, as through the Michigan Gift of Life and Ever Sight organizations she was able to donate needed organs and tissues to those in need.

Juanita will be deeply missed by all those who loved her, by those who called her a friend, and by those who benefited from her ability to give advice when it needed to be heard. In addition to her husband and her sons, Juanita is survived by her mother, several siblings, four grandchildren, and countless friends.

Juanita’s family has chosen to remember her privately at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
