Bert Wayne Ranger, Sr., passed away at his home surrounded by his family on April 7, 2023. He was born in Tawas City, MI on September 23, 1955, to Virgil and Clara (Shedenhelm) Ranger. Bert was a lifelong resident of Whittemore. After graduation from Whittemore High School he married the love of his life Myra Proper and together they raised their family on Ranger Road.
He worked as a laborer in factories including Rising Eagle Enterprises, Inc. and Darten Archery Manufacturing. From a young age Bert enjoyed racing cars, and as he grew older his interest turned to riding dirt-bikes and snowmobiles, which often had to be replaced due to his need for speed. Bert also loved hunting, fishing, spending time with family and his chihuahuas. He also enjoyed working on lawn mower engines, just as his father did.
Bert is survived by his wife Myra of 47 years; his sons, Denny (Alicia), Bert Jr. (Diane), Eugene (Tammy); brother, Virgil Ranger Jr.; sisters, Bonnie Ranger, Tammy (David) Hill, Dawn Hill; brothers in law, Henry Proper, Mark Proper, Marshal Proper, Terry Proper and Ivan Michalko; 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 grandchildren.
Services for Bert are scheduled for Friday, April 14, 2023, at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale, MI. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm and continue until the time of service at 6:00pm. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
