Betty Martin, 98, of Tawas

Betty G. Martin, 98, died very peacefully at Tawas Village on February 25, 2023.

Betty was born March 8, 1924 in Tawas City. She was the daughter of William J. and Nona M. (Long) Rapp. Betty graduated from Tawas High School. She graduated from Bay City Business College and worked for the Iosco County Prosecutor. She later received her nurses training and RN degree from Harper Hospital in Detroit.  For several years she worked as an industrial nurse for Chrysler Corporation. After relocating back to Tawas, she did an assortment of nursing and administrative jobs at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital, retiring in 1987.

Betty was married to John “Joe” Martin for 50 years. Joe predeceased Betty in 2000.  Betty enjoyed golf and playing cards.  She wintered in Florida for many years.

Betty leaves behind a brother, James Rapp, Bay City; sister, Judy (Robert) Werth, Tawas City; sister-in-law, Norma Rapp, Bay City; several nieces and nephews including her very special nephew Rick Burgeron.  Betty was also predeceased by her daughter Suzanne and sister Nona Francis.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  The family requests memorials be sent to the Iosco County Humane Society.
