Iris Elizabeth Tapley, age 87, of Port Huron, formerly of Roscommon, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in Shelby Township, Michigan, in the presence and comfort of her family.
Iris was born April 1, 1935, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of Wade and Lois (Travis) Fisher.
Iris was generous, loving and hospitable with everyone she met. Iris committed her life to Jesus at the age of 14, and was baptized at Oak Grove Baptist Church, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Iris was a children’s Sunday School teacher and a great supporter of missions. She’s been a member at Columbia Avenue Baptist Church in Pontiac, Immanuel Baptist Church in Romeo, the Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church, and the Roscommon Baptist Church.
Iris will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children: Karen (Leonard) Villalpando, Belinda (Ted) Evans, Howard Tapley, Jr., Brian (Tracy) Tapley; grandchildren: Ellen (Jason) Skidmore, Lucas Villalpando, Jess (Rob Conner) Tapley, Travis Tapley, Emily (Sheldon) Buchler, Hunter Evans, James Kubiac; great-grandchild, Elliott; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Iris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; and her sisters.
Family and friends will gather from 12 Noon-3:00 PM, on Saturday, January 7, 2022, until the time of the Funeral Service at 3:00 PM, at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653. Pastor Rick Bowen will be officiating.
Iris will be laid to rest at the Roscommon Village Cemetery in the spring.
