Fred Gatien, 68, of Tawas City

Fredrick Brian Gatien, of Tawas City, formerly of Spalding, Michigan, passed away at his home unexpectedly with his family by his side on Sunday, December 25, 2022, age 68 years. Fred was born in Escanaba, Michigan on March 25, 1954 to Roy and Jeane (Vincent) Gatien.

After his high school graduation, Fred furthered his education through college courses and later went on to be a self-employed General Contractor for over 25 years.

Fred will be always remembered about his passion for fishing, and simply spending time with his family and friends at his favorite place on the beach along the river. For many years, he willingly gave countless hours of time volunteering with St. Vincent DePaul in Tawas City. He was gifted with great talents as a musician and a skilled wood worker. Fred’s heart was full of love and devotion to help people, and he would give anyone the shirt off his back, and his help came with no obligation to re-pay him. His legacy will truly be cherished by everyone who knew and loved him.

Fred is survived by his loving daughter and son in law, Amy (Jamie) Sarasin of Tawas City; grandchildren, Rylan Miller of Gladstone, Michigan, and Maryanne (Cody Koepke) Miller of AuGres, Michigan; great grandson, Bryce Koepke of AuGres, Michigan; brothers and sisters, Darrel Gatien of Spalding, Dennis (Donna) Gatien of Spalding, Mark Gatien of Hermansville, Michigan, Barb Stebbins of Hamilton, Ohio, and Cynthia (James) Visintainer of Rothschild, Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews, best friend of many years, Terry “Griff” Griffith; and his solid companion for 10 years, his prized Pug, Vincent aka. Vinny.

Fredrick is preceded in death by his parents, Roy L. and Jeane L. Gatien. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will celebrate his life through a memorial service in the spring of 2023 with a date and time to be announced later.

Those wishing to express their condolences through a memorial may send their regards to Amy Sarasin at 586 Sparton Road, Tawas City, MI. 48763. Online condolences may be shared at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
