Thomas James Casad, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Horizon Senior Living in St. Helen, MI. He was born on June 6, 1943 in Jackson, MI to Vernon and Mildred (Bevier) Casad.
Thomas lived in St. Helen since 2005 formerly of Jackson.
Thomas graduated from Chelsea High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Army, Air Force, and Navy and retired after serving for 30 years. While he was in active duty, he was stationed in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and retired as a SSGT, E5.
Thomas enjoyed his time with his dog Buddy, playing scratch off lotto tickets, and watching Fox News. He was an avid hunter, liked guns and ammo, and loved to ride the trails in his side by side. He also enjoyed sports, especially football, and watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions, and was a U of M fan.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Christopher (Shannon) Casad of Cement City, MI and Brian (Shawna) Casad of Jackson, MI; grandchildren, Britney Hale, Christopher Casad Jr., Shane Casad, Kristin Casad, and Sierra Casad; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Madalyn, Brooklyn, and Dylan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
A funeral service with military honors was held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Friday, September 9, 2022. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in St. Helen. Pastor Rodney Morrison officiated.
