Ray Myas, 89, of Gladwin

Raymond Donatus Myas, age 89, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at his home in Gladwin, MI surrounded by his family after a long illness. Ray was born on Friday, July 14, 1933 in West Branch, MI to Earl and Edwina (Zettel) Myas. He lived in Gladwin for the past 17 years previously of West Branch.

Ray was a jack of all trades and could fix or build anything. He mostly worked as a maintenance man in various businesses in West Branch and Pennsylvania. He enjoyed working in Pennsylvania from 1988 to 2005 before moving to the Gladwin area. Some of his work included his first job as a pin setter for the Bowling Alley in downtown West Branch, and longest job at Fuel Gas as a driver and furnace repairman. Ray served as a tank driver in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged May 3, 1955. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, spending time with his family, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events as much as possible.

Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Renate of Gladwin. His 5 children Corina (Jim) Smolinski, Guy (Carey) Radley, Steve Radley, Michele Blaszek, and Yvonne Radley. His grandchildren Jordan Smolinski, Shea Smolinski, Zac Smolinski, Brandon Radley, Joseph Radley, Marrissa Sanchez, Jr Blazek, Sheena Blazek, Kaitlyn Radley, and Great Grandchildren Matthew, Lincoln, Logan, Alaric, and Moira.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Katie, Vi, and Teresa and 2 brothers Don and Flash.

A memorial service with veteran honors for Raymond will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m.
