Geraldine “Gerry” Ann Turner (nėe Balogh), 85, of Skidway Lake, Michigan, passed away on May 7th. She passed peacefully at her lifetime home on Bush Lake, home to six generations of Turners.
Gerry was preceded by her husband Bill, former Captain of the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Department.
She is survived by seven children: Don (Lee) Turner of Austin, TX; Tammy (Craig) Buchoz of West Branch; Dennis (Carol) Turner of Prescott, Ken (Rochelle) Turner of Gainesville GA; Patty (Russell) Jenkins of Prescott, MI; Bill (Tracy) Turner of Idaho Springs, CO; and Jeanette (Alan) Wynkoop of Prescott, MI. She has 34 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren.
Gerry was born in Cleveland, OH on July 20th, 1936. She spent most of her childhood in Detroit, Michigan, and almost her entire adult life in Skidway Lake, Michigan.
Gerry was known for her contagious smile and loving disposition. In her early days, she loved to swim and later in life took great joy sitting on the shore watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren growing up on the lake
A devout Roman Catholic she was given Last Rites by Father Tony of St. Stephen’s Church on Wednesday, May 4th. Her strong Faith was a foundation and common thread throughout her life.
