Douglas Walter Juras, Age 79, of Au Gres, MI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 while watching his beloved Tigers.
He was born in Detroit, MI on February 5, 1943 to the late Walter and Agnes (Winowiecki) Juras. Douglas was raised in Detroit and graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1961. He was proud of his Eagle Scout award and pursued an education in Architectural Engineering.
Douglas worked for Union Oil of California for 33 years and ended his career as an Environmental Engineer cleaning up “dirty dirt” as he always put it.
In 1966, he married Charlene Jaczynski and raised 3 sons, Mark, Chris and David. He spent 24 years raising the boys in Wolverine Lake, MI where he played softball well into his 50’s. The team was titled “The Old Phartz”. Douglas also coached soccer and was instrumental in getting it into the local high school sport’s program.
Retiring in 2007, he spent his remaining years in Au Gres near beautiful Lake Huron.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlene; brother, Dennis (Denise) Juras; sons, Mark (Jeannette) Juras, Chris (Vivian) Juras and David (Maria) Juras; 5 grandsons, Nik, Joshua, Jacob, Alex and Waylon and his only granddaughter, Allison who he cherished and called his “little cupcake”. He will also be missed by brothers-in-law, Stan and Tony and sisters-in-law, Loraine, Cecelia, Stephanie and Maryann.
The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 10 AM until the time of Mass beginning at 11 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church in Au Gres, MI.
