Gerhard Lohmeier, 88, of Higgins Lake

Gerhard was born August 1, 1933, in Wehe, Germany, the son of Friedrich and Marie (Kamann) Lohmeier.

Gerhard married Renate Linden, deceased, on May 14, 1959, in Schleiden, Germany.

Gerhard and his family loved to travel the world, partially for work as well as for leisure. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Gerhard’s family will remember him for being a “do it yourselfer”. He truly enjoyed working with his hands. Gerhard retired as a Vice Consul of the German Foreign Service, after 44 years of service.

Gerhard will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his son, Andreas (Valerie) Lohmeier of Dearborn; brothers: Walter (Ingrid) Lohmeier of Schleiden, Germany, and Manfred Lohmeier of Berlin, Germany; sister, Edelgard (Martin) Gaertner of Haiger, Germany; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Gerhard is preceded in death by his parents.

Gerhard’s family has chosen to remember him privately at this time.

Gerhard will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Renate, at Gerrish Township Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
