Nathaniel Andrew Mueller, 35, of Grayling

Nathaniel Andrew Mueller, 35, of Hickory County, Missouri, passed away on March 8, 2021.

Nate was a fun-loving individual who carried kindness and compassion with him everywhere he went. He spent his life in service to others and to his faith. In his youth he served as an Acolyte at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Grayling, Michigan where he entertained thoughts of a future in the priesthood. As he aged, the path of service instead led him into the military where he proudly served in the U.S. Army as a soldier in the 8-10 Cavalry. Nate’s service included a tour of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

After separating from active duty in 2007 he attended the Missouri Sheriff’s Academy, following in his father’s law enforcement footsteps. At the end of his academy training, he became a Reserve and eventually full-time Deputy for the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri. While serving his community, he maintained his connection to the military through the U.S. Army Reserves, serving as Military Police with the 603rdMP Company in Belton, Missouri and then with the 414thMP Company in Joplin, Missouri.

In 2016 he received word that his father’s health was not good and stepped away from serving the county to serve his family. Nate moved to Michigan that fall to care for and help his parents while visiting his home and family in Missouri as often as he could. While in Grayling Nate served as a Simulation Technician for Kirtland Community College’s nursing program which he thoroughly enjoyed. In 2021, he was called to return to service in Missouri as Investigator in the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office.

Nathaniel is preceded in death by his grandparents and brother, Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Darla; daughter, Hope; parents, Jon and Susanne Mueller; three brothers, Sean, Joshua and Isaac; two granddaughters, Syriana and Thalia; and a wealth of extended family and loved ones.

Nate will be missed by so many people. His gentle soul touched many lives, and he left a far greater impact on the world than he ever realized. Above all the dreams and goals he had, one meant the most to him and was his guide every day. Leave the world a better place than you found it. Nate accomplished that.

A celebration of life for Nate will be held at the Mueller household in Grayling, MI on Saturday July 17, 2021 at 2pm following the funeral services for his father.
