Jon Alan Mueller, 78, of Grayling

Jon Alan Mueller, 78, of Grayling, passed away on June 27, 2021. Jon was born in New Kensington, PA on July 6, 1942 to the late Ermin Francis and Barbara Jane (Parfitt) Mueller. Jon married Susanne Shattuck on October 6, 1962 in Wyoming, MI.

The Mueller household was known to show generous hospitality to many people over the years. Jon was known to say, “The door is always open and anyone sitting at the dinner table at 6pm will always be fed. “Several people (too many to name) came to call Jon “Dad” or “Pops”.  Jon was an active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and faithfully served in many roles. He served our country initially joining the US Army and then transferring to the US Air Force where he was a small arms instructor, and retired as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service. 

Jon retired from the Detroit Police Department after 26 years where he enjoyed his time with the Motor Cycle Traffic Division the most. After moving to Grayling, Jon joined Richfield Township Public Safety where he retired after 15 years of service. For many years he also worked for the City of Grayling Police and Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

Jon was also an EMT with North Flight EMS and served on the National Ski Patrol for cross country skiing.

Jon is survived by his wife, Susanne of nearly 59 years.

Sons: Sean Brian of Grayling; Joshua Aaron (Amiee) of Texas; and Timothy Isaac of Grayling. Daughter-in-law: Darla Joy Mueller of Missouri. Grandchildren: Zachary Brian Mueller, Hope Miranda Hooten, and Eleanor Ann Mueller.

Preceded in death by his sons Christopher Paul and Nathaniel Andrew, and a sister, Anita Lynn Jacksits. Funeral Services along with lunch will be held at St Francis Episcopal Church in Grayling on Saturday July 17, 2021 at 12pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Mueller household.
