Wilbur Glyndon Freer, Jr. of Roscommon

Wilbur Glyndon Freer, Jr., 88, of Roscommon passed away Dec. 13, 2017 at The Lighthouse of Roscommon.

Wilbur was born April 19, 1929 in Jackson to Wilbur Frederick and Cecille M. (Hilton) Freer.

Wilbur married Alice Peterson Oct. 2, 1948. She preceded him in death in 2000.

Wilbur resided in Midland, Morgan City, LA, Evart, Midland, then moving to Roscommon.

He was employed by Dow Chemical. Wilbur started as a general laborer and worked his way up to Project Manager in the course of almost 50 years, retiring in 1996.

Wilbur was a member of Midland United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Midland Elks, Midland DeMolay, Midland Masons, Evart Elks, and he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He played softball for Dow AC. He was a Midland Chemics fan. He was the King 27 of the Krewe of Galatea in Morgan City, LA.

Surviving are his children, Mike (Kathy) Freer of Roscommon, Mary Arvidson of St Cloud, MN, Pete (Gayle) Freer of Denham Springs, LA and Patty (Mark) Miller of Midland; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; grandson, Eric Arvidson; brother, Harold Freer and sister, Helen Edwards.

Services will be held later.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon is serving the family.
