Dale Thomas Sandera of Houghton Lake

Dale Thomas Sandera, 70, of Houghton Lake passed away August 4, 2017 at Saginaw VA Hospital.

He was born on July 14, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas and Norma (Kenny) Sandera. He grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio graduating from Kenston High School. He served in the Air Force as a Radar Technician during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the Air Force Dale moved to Houghton Lake. Mr. Sandera was employed as a machinist for Eckerle Tools later known as White Pine of Roscommon. He later owned Craftman’s Cove, Sandy’s Hobby Corner, and Outback Custom Marine in Houghton Lake. He also owned a charter boat and pizza restaurant in Florida.

On July 1, 1995 in Prudenville, Dale was married to Deborah Lou Riley. Dale was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Houghton Lake Eagles, American Model Association, Roscommon Radio Control Aviators, and former Exulted Ruler at Houghton Lake Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and radio controlled planes.

Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Deborah Lou Sandera of Houghton Lake; two sons, David (Brenda) Sandera of Houghton Lake, and Kevin (Kiley Semans) Sandera of Higgins Lake; step daughter, Tracy (Rick) Aardema of Merritt; five grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce (Cheryl) Sandera of Houghton Lake, and Robert Sandera of PA; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Tom Sandera, and Gary Sandera.

Funeral Services will be conducted today (August 8) at 12:00 pm from Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 149 W. Robinson Lake Road, Roscommon with Rev. James Noggle officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dale are asked to be directed to Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan.
