Vahan Kapagian, age 89, of Prudenville, passed away April 12, 2017 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community with his family by his side.
He was born on August 17, 1927 in Detroit to Samuel and Helen (Baligian) Kapagian.
Mr. Kapagian served as a RM2 in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He also served in the Marine Corp Reserves. He retired from the City of Detroit where he was employed as a police officer.
He married Diana L Whiteley on May 31, 1985 in Roscommon. He was a member of Roscommon VFW Post 4149, Retired Detroit Police Officers Association, Lt. & Sgt. Association, Destroyer Sailor Association, he was a retired Director of Criminal Justice from Kirtland College, and a member of the Houghton Lake Masonic Lodge. He also enjoyed Amateur Radio.
Surviving are his loving wife of 32 years, Diana L Kapagian of Prudenville; two sons, Edward Kapagian of Greece, Paul Kapagian of Greece; three step-daughters, Dawn (Larry) Reynolds, Lisa (Dan) Picot and Cheryl (Brian) Farmer and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur Kapagian and sister, Alice Wick of Novi.
Per Vahan’s wishes cremation has taken place and private family services were conducted.
