Houghton Lake trio charged in multiple break-ins in 2022

ROSCOMMON COUNTY – A multi-jurisdictional team of investigators from the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office, the Denton Township Police Department, the Michigan State Police and the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office investigated multiple home invasions and breaking and entering complaints across Roscommon and Missaukee Counties in 2022.

Investigative leads led investigators to execute a search warrant on Dec. 13, 2022 at a home located in Roscommon Township, where investigators recovered more than 200 items of stolen property from numerous incidents across both counties.

The suspects: Michelina Gerard, Kevin Bennett, and Kyle Bennett – were not home at the time the search warrant was executed.

Michelina Reveca-Reyna Gerard, a 26-year-old woman from Houghton Lake, later surrendered herself to investigators. The Roscommon County Prosecutor’s Office charged Gerard with Conducting Criminal Enterprises and Conspiracy to Conduct Criminal Enterprises, and she was arrested on April 23.

Kevin Michael Bennett and Kyle Norman Bennett, 36-year-old twin brothers from Houghton Lake, were later located and arrested by United States Marshall’s in Marion County, Florida on outstanding warrants for Conducting Criminal Enterprises and Conspiracy to Conduct Criminal Enterprises.

Through a joint effort of Roscommon and Missaukee Counties, the Bennett brothers were extradited back to Roscommon, Michigan and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail on Aug. 16.

All three suspects have since been arraigned in the 82nd District by Judge Mary Beebe and are pending further court hearings.

Investigators are currently working on 30 separate incidents involving home invasions from 2022, between the two counties. However, investigators believe that there were additional crimes committed that were not reported to law enforcement. If you have information reference additional possible crimes, please contact the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office at 989-275-5101.

Undersheriff Ben Lowe was appreciate of the support give to the sheriff’s office by other agencies.

“Thank you to all agencies who have assisted throughout the course of this investigation. A special thanks to the Michigan State Police 7th District Fugitive Team and the United States Marshalls for their efforts in locating these suspects,” Lowe said.
