Former principal appointed to council

ROSCOMMON – Former Roscommon High School Principal Dan Scow was elected to the Roscommon Village Council during the council’s monthly meeting March 13.
According to Nicole Crespo, Roscommon Village administrative assistant, a vacancy was created when Diane Lippert moved out of the village, which is a requirement to be on council. Her resignation was accepted in February. Appointees must also be a registered voter and up to date on their taxes.
Council members receive $125 a month for their services.
During the meeting both Scow and another applicant, Tony Medina, spoke briefly about why they wanted to be on council. A third applicant, Chris Fehler, was not present. Scow was appointed by a unanimous vote of the council.
He was sworn in by Village Clerk Dawn Dodge on March 14.

Current council members include President Dan Fishel, Marc McKee, Mike Miller, Jan Deloge, Heather Roemer, and Brian Ludwig.

Scow, co-owner of Michigan Warm Hugs Quilts with his wife, Cecilia, is excited about the opportunity.

‘I’m looking forward to serving the village,’ Scow said.

The Roscommon Village Council meets the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
