Youth travel to Kentucky for Centershot tourney

LOUISVILLE, KY – Gary Harms of the Houghton Lake Sportsman’s Club and Houghton Lake United Methodist Church traveled south to Louisville, KY for the Centershot National Archery championships.

Along with his family and five local kids, they competed along with more than 1,100 other archers. Gary ended up in a five way tie for first place in the men’s adult division. All the children scored their personal best. Hailey Spindler finished third in the sixth grade age group.

“They are so excited about next year’ competition they want increase their practices to three days per week.” Harms said. ‘They see what it is going to take to compete at this high level and are committed to doing what it takes.”
