ROSCOMMON – A Luzerne man has been charged with assault of a minor, according to Michigan State Police reports.
On Friday, May 12, 2023, a referral was received at the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post to investigate an alleged assault.
A child reported being assaulted off- campus to school officials. Child Protective Services (CPS) were notified.
After an investigation and interviews, a report was turned over to the Roscommon County Prosecutor’s Office.
On June 1, 2023, a warrant was authorized for the arrest of 54-year-old Kurt Paul Gilbert from Luzerne. Gilbert was arrested after attending a meeting at CPS on June 2 and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail.
Gilbert was arraigned in the 82nd District Court in Roscommon County on one Child Abuse Second Degree, one count Aggravated Domestic Violence, and one count Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder.
Bond was set at $250,000 or 10 percent cash / surety.
