LAKE CITY — An 85-year Lake City man shot his wife and daughter before killing himself.
According to a statement from the Michigan State Police, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post responded May 3 about 10:50 a.m. to a residence on N. Wilson Road in Lake City for a reported shooting. Upon arriving at the scene they found three people with gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigation indicates an 85-year-old man from Lake City shot his 64-year-old daughter and his 89-year-old wife, before shooting himself. The wife was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, while the husband and daughter died at the scene.
Detectives from the Seventh District Special Investigation Section (SIS) and the MSP Forensic Science Division Grayling Crime Lab responded to assist with the homicide investigation.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities said there is no threat to the public.
Troopers were assisted by the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office and Missaukee County EMS.
