Seventh-graders at Mio-Ausable Schools are planning ahead for future expenses with a fundraiser. Students from the class of 2021 are raising funds for such anticipated events as junior prom and graduation.
Karen Mitchell, a 17-year teacher at Mio-Ausable Schools, is the senior advisor for fundraisers to benefit the class of 2021. Each year she works with the students in the specified graduating class to help them raise funds for their graduation, amongst other items needed along the way. This year’ fundraiser includes auto decals and license plates. Labor and materials were donated by a dedicated parent, Shawn McCosh.
Over previous years, fundraising has been limited to one per year due to certain regulations, those have since been lifted and the goal to fundraise more than once per year is in the works. Money collected from the fundraising is deposited into the class account that helps pay for their eventual junior prom as well as for graduation materials. Ten percent of the class account fund is distributed into the students’ individual accounts to help pay for cap and gown.
Mitchell has been working hard with the students to increase the amount of the class accounts to assist them as much as possible. Vehicle decals and license plates are available for purchase and special order by visiting the middle school office, or by asking your local seventh-grader!
