Boat owner sought in hit and run in Houghton Lake

HOUGHTON LAKE – On Sept. 10 at approximately 12:00 p.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post was dispatched to a report of a hit and run at
the DNR west Houghton Lake boat launch in Lake Township.

According to an MSP statement, a witness said he was sitting on his boat at the boat launch when he observed a vehicle towing a boat hit a parked trailer. The driver got out of their vehicle, looked at the damage, and then let his dog out.

The boat of the driver allegedly involved in a hit and run.

The witness thought the driver was calling police. The man then loaded up his dog and left the boat launch area at a high rate of speed. The witness was able to take pictures of the suspect vehicle and the boat he was towing.

The suspect vehicle is a Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe, silver in color, towing a Red/White Starcraft boat on a dark colored trailer.
