IOSCO COUNTY– Whittemore-Prescott Elementary fifth graders recently turned classroom lessons into real-world experiences during an exciting overnight Great Lakes Field Exploration. Students explored Michigan’s rich maritime history aboard the Valley Camp Museum freighter, watched massive ships navigate the Soo Locks, and learned about freshwater science at the LSSU Center for Freshwater Research and Education and Hammond Bay Biological Station. The hands-on adventure gave students a deeper appreciation for Michigan’s Great Lakes, natural resources, and aquatic ecosystems while creating unforgettable memories along the way.
