Winners of Warbler young artist contest named


NORTHEAST MICHIGAN- The winners and honorable mentions for the 2024 Kirtland’s Warbler Young Artists’ Calendar Contest Were announced today.

The first place winner, whose artwork will be featured on the cover of the new 2024-2025 calendar, is Nakiah, an eight grader from Eleuthera, The Bahamas. Nakiah was also the first place winner in 2023’s contest and once again produced an amazing piece of artwork for the contest this year.

Our second place winner, whose artwork will be featured on the back cover of the calendar is also from Eleuthera, eight grader Bria.

The third place winner is Hazel, a fifth grader from Grayling, whose artwork will be featured on the inside of the front cover.

The other top 15 winners will have their artwork featured on the months of the new calendar:

  • Adam, fifth grade, Eleuthera, The Bahamas
  • Sophie, second grade, Ludington, MI
  • Landon, third grade, West Branch, MI
  • Giselle, fourth grade, Hillman, MI
  • Avery, kindergarten, Tawas City, MI
  • Lauryn, sixth grade, West Branch, MI
  • Victoria, first grade, Ontario, Canada
  • Joel, third grade, West Branch, MI
  • Lilah, sixth grade, Grand Rapids, MI
  • Amiyah, kindergarten, Hillman, MI
  • Zoey, second grade, Hillman, MI
  • Ava, first grade, Alpena, MI
  • Henry, fourth grade, Honor, MI
  • Grace, third grade, Hillman, MI
  • Jon, sixth grade, Eleuthera, The Bahamas

The winners will receive a prize pack and a free copy of the 2024-2025 Kirtland’s Warbler Young Artists’ Calendar.  Additionally, 79 students were selected as Honorable Mentions and will be notified via their teachers.

Honorable Mentions will receive a certificate and smaller prize, in addition to their artwork being featured in the calendar.  A total of 949 pieces of artwork were received for this year’s contest.

Copies of the calendar will be available for pickup in the coming months at the Huron-Manistee National Forests Mio Ranger Station in Mio, and the Huron Shores Ranger Station and Lumberman’s Monument in Oscoda.
