NORTHERN MICHIGAN – Helping your neighbors is as easy as grabbing from your pantry and visiting your local DNR Customer Service Center Monday, July 14-18.
Pantry staples like canned goods, pasta, and cereal are appreciated.
The DNR’s Hunters Feeding Michigan program, in partnership with the Food Bank Council of Michigan, invites Michiganders to donate nonperishable food to support local pantries and those in need. Stop by any DNR Customer Service Center during business hours to donate. Donors will receive an exclusive thank-you sticker.
This is the first food drive for Hunters Feeding Michigan. Student assistant Carly Kalkauski said they were thrilled to coordinate the initiative proposed by program specialist Joe Presgrove.
“You don’t have to be a hunter to help our program target hunger,” they said. “One in seven Michiganders faces food insecurity; we hope this drive provides meaningful community aid.”
Please bring items that are unopened and unexpired. Data on Michigan food insecurity is available from Feeding America.
