REGION: Early childhood educators across Northeast Michigan may now qualify for monthly wage stipends after the Sunrise Side Regional Child Care Coalition raised the program’s income eligibility cap from $17 to $20 per hour. The expansion opens the state-funded Early Education Wage Initiative to more educators working in licensed childcare centers, family and group homes, Head Start, and Great Start Readiness Programs across 11 counties, including Roscommon, Crawford, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Iosco. Eligible part-time educators can receive $200 per month, while full-time educators can receive $300 per month through August 2027.

How to apply:

Early childhood educators and program directors in Region 3 are encouraged to visit https://childcarebackoffice.org/wage-initiative to access application materials, verify eligibility guidelines, and review Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Applications will be processed on a rolling basis until all remaining slots are filled.
