AG names Rogers as Grand Traverse administrator

TRAVERSE CITY – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel today announced the appointment of Christopher Rogers as the new Grand Traverse County Public Administrator.

“Chris’s deep ties to the community and his extensive legal experience make him an excellent choice for this role,” said Nessel. “I’m grateful for his dedication to Grand Traverse County and confident he will serve its residents with integrity and professionalism.”

County public administrators primarily handle matters related to intestate decedent estates—cases where individuals pass away without a will and without apparent heirs. Their responsibilities include identifying, managing, and distributing estate assets. Attorneys in these roles typically maintain private practices independent of their public appointments.

“I look forward to working with Mr. Rogers,” said State Public Administrator Randi M. Merchant. “Michigan is fortunate to have a committed group of attorneys serving as county public administrators, and I’m confident Chris will be a valuable addition to that team.”

Rogers, a Traverse City resident, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law. He is a member of both the Illinois State Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, as well as the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association.

In 2010, Rogers joined his father at the Traverse City firm now known as Kuhn Rogers PLC, where he has practiced law for the past 15 years. His areas of focus include estate planning, probate and trust administration, real property and property tax law, and business law.

In addition to his legal work, Rogers is active in the local community. He serves in leadership roles with several volunteer organizations, including the Estate Planning Council of the Grand Traverse Area.

Rogers was officially sworn in on April 10.
