UPDATE: Easter services; Egg hunts scheduled for the weekend

NORTHERN MICHIGAN – Communities across Northeast Michigan are celebrating Easter in a variety of ways. Some are hosting Easter Egg Hunts and churches are holding services as well.

A partial list of events includes:

ROSCOMMON

  • The Annual Egg Drop at Blodgett Airport in Houghton Lake is scheduled for April 16. The Easter Bunny will arrive by air around 10 a.m. Three egg drops will follow. Participating age groups include: 1-5, 6-9 and 10-14. Hot chocolate, coffee, donuts, and candy will be provided courtesy of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter #1580. The airport is located at 5218 East Houghton Lake Drive in Houghton Lake.
  • Easter Dinner at St. Helen VFW from 1-3 p.m. To go or eat in. Delivery in St. Helen only between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. by calling 989-389-7492. To volunteer call 9-329-7686, 989-808-4685 or 989-389-7492. The VFW is located at 1914 Lake Street in St. Helen.
  • St. Helen Baptist Church is hosting a Good Friday service April 15 at 4 p.m. and an Easter service on Sunday at 8 a.m. The church is located at 9785 East Madison Avenue.
  • Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church Good Friday Service April 15 at 6 p.m. The church is located at 5599 West Houghton Lake Avenue in Houghton Lake.
  • On April 16 Bright Beginnings Daycare is hosting its firest-ever Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt is free to the public and located at on the playgrounds of Collin Elementary. Take and make craft, candy, face painting and a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny. Kiss Me Coffee has also generously decided to offer limited drink options for adults to enjoy.
  • Houghton Lake United Methodist Church is having a Good Friday service April 15 at 1 p.m. and Sunday Easter Service at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

OGEMAW COUNTY

  • April 16 at 1 p.m. at the corner of Sage Lake Road and Hwy 33, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is hosting an Easter Egg hunt for kids 12 and under.
  • The Clear Lake Fire Department is hosting its first-ever Easter Egg Hunt April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The department is located at 2162 N. Clear Lake Road in West Branch.
  • Rose City Trinity United Methodist Church will have a Good Friday service at 4 p.m. Sunrise Service will be Sunday at 8 a.m. followed by breakfast at 9 a.m. and regular worship at 10 a.m. All are welcome and invited. The church is located at 125 West Main Street in Rose City.
  • West Branch Animal and Crafts is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt on April 16 at noon at Pioneer Tractor, located at 302 West M-55 in West Branch.

ARENAC

Easter Bunny is visiting Ali’s Up North April 16 from 1-3 p.m. Bring your own phone for photos.

Full Gospel Lighthouse Church N. Michigan in Au Gres has Good Friday Service at 6 p.m. and Easter Service Sunday at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome to join us as we celebrate our Saviour is risen!

IOSCO

  • Easter dinner and activities including pictures with the Easter Bunny on April 16 at 5:30 p.m. at Iosco Resa, located at 27 Rempert Road in Tawas City.
  • Tawas United Methodist Church has two services, Holy Saturday casual worship service is at 4pm and Easter Sunday Traditional service is at 10am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
  • Easter egg hunt Saturday April 16 at the Oscoda VFW Post 3735 at 1 p.m. Gather at the flag pole.

CRAWFORD

  • Michelson Memorial Methodist Church will have a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. and Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m. The church is located at 400 East Michigan Avenue in Grayling.
  • Friends of Frederic is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt on April 16 at 10 a.m. in Eagle Park, next to the township hall. Age groups include: 0-4, 5-7, 8-10, and 11-13.
  • Swamp II is sponsoring Easter Egg coloring in its backyard heated tent from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Easter Bunny is expected to make a guest appearance.
  • Hanson Hills Recreation Area is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. for kids 10 and under. There are three areas to search that are set up by age group: 4 and under; 5-7 and 8-10. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos.
  • AuSable Artisan Village is hosting Easter Egg decorating with Artist Susan Thiel. Event is limited for first eight registrants. For youths 10 years and older. Decorations will be done with marble polymer clay that can last for years. Class runs 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a lunch break from 10-12:30 p.m. For more info and to register call 989-745-6096 and say whether you want to do three eggs, or two characters: A bunny, chick or monster. The Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue in Grayling.

MONTMORENCY

  • Atlanta Bible Church egg hunt and fellowship Sunday, April 17 at 11 a.m. The church is located at 11697 M-33 in Atlanta.
  • Easter Egg Hunt for youths 1-13 is scheduled for April 16 at 11 a.m. at Johannesburg Christian Church, located at 10722 M-32 in Johannesburg, across from Paul’s Pub.
