ROSCOMMON– St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Roscommon, and their Council of Catholic Women CCW, recently purchased $1,000 worth of clothing for local school children.
St. Michael’s program began nearly twenty years ago, when one of their members was made aware of a need for garments. The clothing is used as replacement for a child’s garments, that may have become soiled or torn during the school day.
Initially beginning with Roscommon Elementary school, this year garments were also delivered to Roscommon Middle school, COOR, and Charlton Heston in St. Helen.
Garments purchased included boys’ and girls’ sweatpants and sweatshirts, socks, tops, skorts, and jeans. Charlton Heston also received uniform shirts, sweaters, slacks and skorts.
According to school staff, there is a continued and growing need for these items. Each school has a “closet” where the items are kept.
